While Europe turns grey and cold, Gran Canaria only gets more pleasant. From September through November, daytime temperatures sit around 23 to 27 degrees, and the sea reaches its warmest point of the year at roughly 23 degrees. The summer crowds have thinned out, and evenings stay mild enough for a T-shirt on the terrace, for many of our guests, it's the favourite season of the year.
What to do in autumn
- The dunes of Maspalomas are at their best in autumn: the sun sits lower, the shadows on the sand are sharper, and it's less hot to walk. Go early in the morning or just before sunset. The walk from Playa del Inglés to the Maspalomas lighthouse takes about an hour and a half.
- Meloneras. On the other side of the dunes lies the Meloneras boardwalk, with its 1890 lighthouse, a modern shopping mall, and a row of restaurants along the water. Perfect for an afternoon away from the beach.
- The Yumbo Centre. Throughout autumn, the Yumbo Centre comes alive every evening. By day it's a shopping centre; from around ten at night, the bars, cocktail terraces and drag shows fill up. Aqua Beach Bungalows sits directly across from it, so you're there in minutes, and just as easily back again afterwards.
- Winter Pride. In early November (2 to 8 November 2026), the Yumbo Centre spends a week celebrating Winter Pride. Aqua Beach Bungalows is within walking distance of all the festivities. Want to see the full programme? Check it here. Note: accommodation around the Yumbo often books out months in advance for that week.
- The ocean. September and October are the best months for snorkelling, diving and boat trips. Underwater visibility is good and the sea is pleasantly warm.
